Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the AppStatus monitoring platform. By creating an account or using the Service you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
1. The Service
AppStatus ("we", "us") provides cloud-based uptime monitoring, SSL/TLS certificate monitoring, heartbeat checks, status pages, incident management and alert notifications (the "Service") accessed viaappstatus.io and related sub-domains.
- Uptime monitoring of websites, servers, APIs, ports and IP endpoints
- SSL certificate monitoring and expiry alerts
- Public and private status pages
- Email, SMS, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Webhook alert delivery
- Incident management and post-mortem tools
2. Eligibility & Account
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
- You must provide accurate, complete and current account information
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for protecting your credentials
- One person or legal entity may not maintain multiple free accounts to evade plan limits
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You will not:
- Monitor or probe systems you do not own or have explicit authorisation to monitor
- Use the Service to launch denial-of-service, brute-force or load-testing attacks
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to access non-public APIs or data
- Send spam or unsolicited communications via our notification channels
- Upload malware, illegal content, or content that infringes others' rights
- Resell the Service or expose it as a competing monitoring product without written consent

4. Subscriptions, Billing & Merchant of Record
All paid subscriptions are sold and invoiced by Paddle.com Market Limited(Judd House, 18-29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, UK; company no. 08172165) acting as our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment processing, tax/VAT collection, invoicing and chargebacks on our behalf.
- Currency: all prices are quoted in USD unless otherwise displayed at checkout. Local-currency conversion (and applicable taxes) is handled by Paddle.
- Free plan: available indefinitely with the limits stated on the Pricing page.
- Free trial: 14 days on Starter, Pro and Business plans. No charge during the trial. Cancel before it ends to avoid being billed.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or annually) at the then-current price until cancelled.
- Annual discount: approximately 20% off when paying yearly.
- Taxes: Paddle calculates and collects VAT, GST and US sales tax based on your billing country. Prices shown may exclude tax until checkout.
- Cancellation: cancel any time from your billing portal. Service continues until the end of the paid period.
- Failed payments: Paddle retries the payment several times. Account is downgraded to Free if all retries fail after a 7-day grace period.
Charges appear on your statement as PADDLE.NET* APPSTATUS or similar. For invoice questions or refunds, see our Refund Policy or contact billing@appstatus.io.
5. Refunds
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on first-time annual purchases and a 3-day refund window on monthly subscriptions, no questions asked. EU/UK consumers also benefit from the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under applicable law. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
6. Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Free plan: best-effort, no SLA
- Starter / Pro / Business: 99.9% monthly platform uptime
- Enterprise: 99.99% monthly platform uptime, with custom SLA available
- Service credits issued on request when SLA is breached, capped at one month of subscription fees per incident
7. Intellectual Property
AppStatus and all related trademarks, logos, dashboards, code and content are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service per these Terms.
You retain ownership of all data, configuration and content you submit to the Service ("Customer Data"). You grant us a limited licence to host, process and display Customer Data only as necessary to deliver the Service.
8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages
- Our total aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim
- We are not responsible for downtime of third-party systems you monitor
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (e.g. fraud, gross negligence, statutory consumer rights)
9. Suspension & Termination
- By you: cancel at any time from your billing portal — no questions asked.
- By us: for breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, non-payment, or as required by law. We will give 30 days notice for non-fault terminations where reasonably practical.
- Data export: you may export your data via API or CSV at any time prior to termination.
- Data deletion: personal data is deleted within 30 days after termination; backups expire within 90 days.
10. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email and on this page at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which AppStatus is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except that consumers may bring claims in their local courts where required by law.
