Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: May 10, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules that apply to anyone who uses AppStatus. It supplements our Terms of Service. Violations may result in suspension or termination without refund.

1. Permitted Use

  • Monitor websites, servers, APIs and infrastructure that you own or are explicitly authorised to monitor.
  • Publish public or private status pages for systems you operate.
  • Receive incident alerts via email, SMS, Slack, Discord, Telegram, webhooks and similar channels.
  • Use the Service in compliance with applicable laws and the rights of others.

2. Prohibited Activities

You may not use AppStatus to:

  • Monitor, probe or scan systems you do not own or have written permission to monitor.
  • Conduct denial-of-service, brute-force, credential-stuffing or load/stress testing without authorisation.
  • Bypass security or rate-limit controls on third-party systems.
  • Send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, phishing, or malware via our notification channels.
  • Upload, host or display content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to AppStatus systems, other accounts, or non-public APIs.
  • Resell, sub-license, white-label or expose the Service as a competing monitoring product without our written consent.
  • Use the Service for cryptocurrency mining, illegal gambling, weapons trade, or other restricted industries listed in Paddle's acceptable-use rules.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our source code or proprietary algorithms.
  • Create multiple free accounts to bypass plan limits or trial restrictions.

3. Fair Use of Resources

  • Default monitor frequency is 1 minute. Sub-minute checks are subject to platform fair-use limits and may be throttled.
  • API usage is rate-limited per plan; abusive call patterns will trigger throttling.
  • SMS and voice channels have per-plan caps; overages may be charged or rejected.
  • We reserve the right to throttle or suspend behaviour that disproportionately impacts other customers.

4. Enforcement

If we determine you have violated this AUP we may, at our discretion and without prior notice:

  • Remove or disable the offending content or monitor
  • Throttle, suspend or terminate the account
  • Cooperate with law enforcement and disclose data as required by law
  • Withhold refunds for terminations caused by AUP violations

5. Reporting Abuse

Saw something that violates this AUP — phishing status pages, scraped content, abusive monitors? Tell us and we will investigate within 24 hours.
